Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup currants
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions:

In medium bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until crumbly; stir in currants. Combine eggs and milk in small bowl and add to flour mixture, stirring with a fork.

Turn dough out onto floured surface, divide in half, and flatten each half into a 1/2 -inch thick circle. Cut each circle into wedges and place on greased baking sheet.

Bake at 400 degrees, 15 minutes or until golden. Serve warm, slightly buttered. Makes 12 to 16.
