Linda’s Tea Scones

Linda's Tea Scones
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
Instructions:
  • In medium bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until crumbly; stir in currants.  Combine eggs and milk in small bowl and add to flour mixture, stirring with a fork. 

  • Turn dough out onto floured surface, divide in half, and flatten each half into a 1/2 -inch thick circle. Cut each circle into wedges and place on greased baking sheet.

  • Bake at 400 degrees, 15 minutes or until golden.  Serve warm, slightly buttered.  Makes 12  to 16.
