Jello Punch

Ingredients:

For each batch of punch you’ll need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 oz box of Jello Gelatin Dessert (flavor of your choice)
  • 2 cups of boiling water
  • 1 – 12 fluid oz can frozen concentrated Lemonade (like Minute Maid). Thaw out before hand.
  • 1 – 12 fluid oz can frozen concentrated Orange Juice (like Minute Maid). Thaw out before hand.
  • 1 – 46 fluid oz can Dole 100% Pineapple Juice
  • 1 – 2 liter bottle of Canada Dry Ginger Ale
Instructions:
  • In a large measuring cup or bowl, add 1 cup of sugar, and the contents of one 3oz box of Jello Gelatin Dessert (whatever flavor you like)
  • Add 2 cups of boiling water and stir until the sugar and jello are dissolved.
  • Once dissolved – add the cans of thawed out Lemonade and Orange Juice. Stir into the sugar/jello mixture to combine
  • Use the 12 oz frozen juice containers to add another 12 oz cold water.
  • Pour the mixture into a 2 or 2.5 gallon ziplock bag
  • Add one 46oz can pineapple juice to the bag
  • Zip up the ziplock bag holding the punch removing as much air as you can
  • Lay the package on a cookie sheet in your freezer and freeze flat. If you stack multiple bags on the cookie sheet, place paper like a grocery sack in between them so they don’t freeze together in a lump. One year, we didn’t do this and had 9 bags of punch all frozen together in one giant lump. What a mess!
  • When you’re ready to make the punch, cut away the ziplock bag and use a ice pick to break the punch into 4 or more pieces. Place them in your punch bowl and add the 2 liter bottle of Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Then crunch up the frozen punch to make a slushy punch and enjoy. (We use metal punch bowls for the concert, which seems to keep the punch slushy for a few hours.)

Comments:

One batch doesn’t make a lot of punch. So you might want to make a few batches depending on how many people you expect. If you use a glass bowl, the slushy ice may melt quicker.

We make 9 batches of punch for the concert – 3 each of 3 different flavors – I usually make Lime, Raspberry and Peach punch for the concert but have used other flavors like Mango in past years. Lime and Raspberry are the favorite flavors for most people.
