Ingredients:
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1/2 cup raisins or currants (optional)
Instructions:
- Cream the shortening and sugar
- Add the eggs, molasses and milk… beat well.
- Sift the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves together and add to the creamed mixture along with the quick-cooking oats.
- Add the raisins or currants if desired.
- Drop the mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until brown but still soft.
